Dr Richard E Ashton MA, MB, BChir, MD, FRCP(UK)Consultant Dermatologist, Dermatological Surgeon & Clinical Lead

Dr Ashton has been a Consultant for 30 years in General Dermatology, with a special interest in Skin Cancer, Mohs and Dermatological Surgery. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, and then studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, qualifying in 1974 (No 1731547). He was Consultant Dermatologist to the Royal Navy, retiring as a Surgeon Captain. Dr Ashton is also co-author of Differential Diagnosis in Dermatology.

Dr Aziz is an internationally recognised Consultant Dermatologist, who has worked within the NHS for 30 years, as well as countries including Sweden and the Middle East. He is fully accredited with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register as a Consultant Dermatologist (No 3225833). Dr Aziz is a member of the Swedish association of Dermatologist and obtained his full registration in 1986 after training at Guy’s Hospital in London. He holds a Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy and Oncology, is a member of the British Association of Aesthetics medicine, the RSM and the British Association of Dermatologists. He has carried out cosmetic Dermatology Procedures at Wimpole Street, London and has special interest in skin cancer screening.
Dr Aziz main interests are Acne, Mole checks and all inflammatory skin conditions that have a major impact on appearance. He has a special interest in how stress and emotions lead to skin disease. Dr Aziz holds a diploma in Medical Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP and uses these skills alongside other medical intervention.
Dr Amy Poyner MBBS, MRCS, MRCGP, DRCOG

Amy Poyner qualified as a doctor in 1998 from the University of London, obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2003 and qualified as a General Practitioner in 2008 (GMC No 4523594). She has a specialist interest in Surgical Dermatology. Amy has worked within the local community as a GP and at the Beacon Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. Her senior roles include being the Clinical Commissioning Group’s Clinical Lead for Unscheduled Care and the Chair of the IOW NHS 111’s Clinical Governance Committee.
Dr Anitha Ande MBBS, DFFP, MRCGP, DPD (Cardiff)

Dr Ande is a GP with a Special Interest (GPwSI) in Dermatology. She worked on the mainland in Gynaecology before coming to the Isle of Wight in 2003 to start GP training. A GP Partner at Beech Grove Surgery since 2006, Dr Ande also is a GP Appraiser and Section 12 Second Doctor. Previously, she held additional responsibilities at the CCG as Clinical Executive for the Isle of Wight and Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology. She successfully completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership, giving her valuable management skills.

Dr Louay Qualified in Medicine in 1990 from Basrah University, Iraq.
He is an experienced GP with a special interest in dermatology and the relationship between skin and systemic disease; he holds the Diploma of Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University and is a member of the Primary Care Dermatology Society.
Louay is passionate about providing excellent clinical care to all of his patients.
Dr Patrick Wills, MBBS, MSc, MRCP, MRCGP, MBPsS, DipGUMed

Patrick qualified in medicine in 1989 at Kings College, London. He is a GP partner and trainer, and also an associate specialist in genito-urunary medicine and sexual health. He has a long standing interest in dermatology and holds the diploma of practical dermatology of Cardiff University.
Rebecca Gautier

Rebecca is a Registered Nurse who has been working with the Isle of Wight NHS since 1983 and has been working in and around the field of dermatology since 2003 when she joined the outpatient service. She gained her experience whilst working closely with Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons and this triggered her interest in skin disorders and aesthetics. She began her personal dermatological journey when she qualified as a photo-therapist in 2005 and since then she has gained qualifications in skin surgery and become an independent nurse prescriber. She is a highly experienced Dermatology Advanced Nurse Practitioner, skilled in helping clients with a range of skin conditions including melanoma, acne, rosacea and psoriasis.
Alongside her NHS work she has been working with injectables for over a decade and updated her skills in 2016 when she attended the Harley Academy and became an Accredited Aesthetic Practitioner. Rebecca provides private consultations for aesthetics and also cosmetic dermatology surgery. Rebecca was born in Bembridge and enjoys working within the local community.
Helen Pole

Helen is an experienced nurse who is skilled in caring for patients undergoing assessments and treatment for skin cancer. She ensures that they have access to the best medical care and follow-up support available.
Before joining the Dermatology team as the Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, Helen worked for 15 years in the community as a District Nurse, and eventually became a Community Matron on the Island. She continued with this role over the water in Southampton and Portsmouth. Helen’s qualifications include RGN BSc (Hons) in Public Health with a District Nursing Speciality, and Independent Nurse Prescriber with Advance Nurse Practitioner Post Graduate certificate (PGcert).
Louise Read
Louise ReadClinical Assistant & Administrator
Louise is another skilled member of the clinical and administration team at 62 Crocker Street. Louise spent many years working in hospitals and nursing homes. She holds qualifications in Health and Social Care, Medication Administration and Control, has a CertHe in Healthcare & Health Science and has studied an Open University Mental Health course. This included the concepts of mental health, addictions, mood, wellbeing and dementia. When working in a practice in Gloucestershire, Louise continued her training, and qualified to administer immunisations and B12 injections and completed Mental Health First Aid Champion training. Louise’s role sees her time split between Dermatology Administration and assisting clinicians.
Samantha Harrison

Samantha has worked on all the wards at St Mary’s Hospital over a period of seven years. This included Accident and Emergency for one year and six years in outpatients which covered many clinics such as Orthopaedics, Fracture, Gastro, Surgical, ENT , Respiratory, Oncology, Vascular, Neuro, Desk, Renal, Plaster Room, Urology and Dermatology. Sam has learned so much over the seven years. She enjoys being a hands on person and continually strives to improve the care she can offer through additional training and experience. Sam qualified in 2018 to be a Phlebotomist and is one of our blood taking team.
Charm Shaw

Charm moved to the Isle of Wight from the Philippines when she was 12 years old. One of our Healthcare Assistants, Charm has qualifications in Health and Social care, as well as being been trained in Phlebotomy and numerous areas of healthcare. She found working in Residential Care for 10 years enormously rewarding. Her skill set and caring nature shine through every day she meets our patients. Charm has worked with us since 2019 and has proved to be an extremely, adaptable hands-on member of our team.

Malcolm is a highly experienced manager who had a senior role at the Beacon Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. He has specialist knowledge of the Dermatology sector and now leads the Dermatology Services team at 62 Crocker Street.
Michelle McKenzie
Michelle McKenzieDermatology Manager & Skin Camouflage Consultant
Michelle manages the Dermatology team, and is a fully qualified Beauty Therapist and Skin Camouflage Consultant. She is a Graduate Member of The British Association of Skin Camouflage (No 2590), and certified by the Royal College of Nursing in the Principles and Art of Para-medical Skin Camouflage Application Techniques. She now uses her expertise to help people with skin conditions feel more confident about facing the world.  
Nicola Cranwell
Nicola CranwellTraining and Development Manager, Lighthouse Educational Foundation
Nicola manages our charitable organisation. Her role includes dealing with applications for funding and sourcing appropriate courses for the successful healthcare professionals. She is an experienced business and marketing consultant, and the former Marketing Director an Isle of Wight publishing company. Nicola’s qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Brighton and a Diploma in Digital Marketing.
Francesca
FrancescaDermatology Administrator
Francesca’s role includes compliance with Health and Safety and Information Governance, as well as involvement in future projects. She worked as Accident and Emergency’s Head Receptionist for 4 years before moving to the Beacon Centre as Walk-in Centre/Out of Hours Co-ordinator. Here she received the Leading Light Award in 2016 for her work in Out of Hours. Before joining the Crocker Street team, Francesca was the Urgent Care Service Lead. This totals 6 years working in A&E/Urgent Care in Supervisory positions.
With additional studies, Francesca has expanded her knowledge to include Mental Health subjects, such as Dementia and Mental Health Awareness.
Her leadership, experience and qualifications means that Francesca is a valuable member of our team and pivotal to future business developments.

Emily has thirteen years’ experience working in the Private and Public healthcare sector. She is our Audio typist and one of our Administrators. With her passion for helping people and welcoming approach to patients and visitors, she is a valued member of the team.
Megan

Megan joined us in 2021. She is one of our Dermatology Administrators working hard behind the scenes, ensuring the Lighthouse Clinic runs smoothly and efficiently. Megan has a degree in English Language and Media from the University of Brighton, as well as an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration. She enjoys the variety her role brings, and is able to use her training and comprehensive customer service experience in the everyday running of our clinics. Megan’s always ready to help with any task and her warm, friendly approach makes her a perfect addition to the team.

Eric is a specialist in health and care management and development. He graduated from Cambridge University and went on to hold senior positions in the NHS and the private sector (notably with BUPA Hospitals where he was a Director for many years, and Independent British Healthcare PLC).

He is a Foundation Governor and Chair of Governors for local Island schools. Eric is a founding member of the board of Ed-WISE IOW, the Island’s charitable community benefit society dedicated to enhancing the education and life chances of IOW children and young people.
