Dr Richard E Ashton MA, MB, BChir, MD, FRCP(UK)Consultant Dermatologist & Dermatological Surgeon

Dr Ashton has been a Consultant for 30 years in General Dermatology, with a special interest in Skin Cancer, Mohs and Dermatological Surgery. He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, and then studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, qualifying in 1974 (No 1731547). He was Consultant Dermatologist to the Royal Navy, retiring as a Surgeon Captain. Dr Ashton is also co-author of Differential Diagnosis in Dermatology.

Dr Omar Aziz MBChB, DRMO, MSc, MD

Dr Aziz is an internationally recognised Consultant Dermatologist, who has worked within the NHS for 30 years, as well as countries including Sweden and the Middle East. He is fully accredited with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register as a Consultant Dermatologist (No 3225833). Dr Aziz is a member of the Swedish association of Dermatologist and obtained his full registration in 1986 after training at Guy’s Hospital in London. He holds a Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy and Oncology, is a member of the British Association of Aesthetics medicine, the RSM and the British Association of Dermatologists. He has carried out cosmetic Dermatology Procedures at Wimpole Street, London and has special interest in skin cancer screening.
Dr Aziz main interests are Acne, Mole checks and all inflammatory skin conditions that have a major impact on appearance. He has a special interest in how stress and emotions lead to skin disease. Dr Aziz holds a diploma in Medical Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP and uses these skills alongside other medical intervention.
Dr Amy Poyner

Amy Poyner qualified as a doctor in 1998 from the University of London, obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2003 and qualified as a General Practitioner in 2008 (GMC No 4523594). She has a specialist interest in Surgical Dermatology. Amy has worked within the local community as a GP and at the Beacon Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. Her senior roles include being the Clinical Commissioning Group’s Clinical Lead for Unscheduled Care and the Chair of the IOW NHS 111’s Clinical Governance Committee.
Dr David Henderson MBBS, PGDipDerm
Dr David Henderson MBBS, PGDipDermGP with a Special Interest (GPwSI) in Dermatology
Dr Henderson is a GP with a Special Interest (GPwSI) in Dermatology and skin cancer surgery. Having worked for 17 years as a GP in Essex, where he was also a GP trainer, in 2007 Dr Henderson became a partner at Sandown Health Centre. A member of the Primary Care Dermatology Society, he has trained under Dr Stephen Keohane, attending courses in advanced skin surgery. Dr Henderson has performed weekly sessions in dermatological and skin cancer surgery with our Dermatology department. He holds a Diploma in Practical Dermatology and hopes to start performing general dermatology clinics. Outside of work, Dr Henderson enjoys cycling around the Island, the occasional round of golf, and playing cricket for the Health Associates on summer evenings.

Dr Newson is an experienced General Practitioner who started practice in Liverpool in 1991 and moved to the Isle of Wight in 2003. She has had an interest in Dermatology throughout her career. She has worked as a GPwSI on the Island since 2008 and previously as a Clinical Assistant in Dermatology in Liverpool. She has recently reduced her workload in General Practice and is enjoying spending more time pursuing her other interests.
Dr Patrick Wills, MBBS, MSc, MRCP, MRCGP, MBPsS, DipGUMed

Patrick qualified in medicine in 1989 at Kings College, London. He is a GP partner and trainer, and also an associate specialist in genito-urunary medicine and sexual health. He has a long standing interest in dermatology and holds the diploma of practical dermatology of Cardiff University.

Annabelle is a skilled member of the 62 Crocker Street clinical team. She has spent many years working in hospitals and nursing homes. Annabelle holds Diplomas in Health and Social Care for both adults and early years. She is trained in Phlebotomy and her role also includes some administration and reception work.
Louise Read
Louise ReadHealthcare Assistant
Louise is another skilled member of the clinical team at 62 Crocker Street. Louise has spent many years working in hospitals and nursing homes. She holds qualifications in Health and Social Care, Medication Administration and Control, and has successfully completed an Open University Mental Health course. Louise’s role also includes some administration and reception work.
Nichola Dee

Nikki is an award winning Healthcare Assistant, winning employee of the year in the Primary Care awards 2016. As well as numerous years’ experience working in GP practices, Nikki holds a Diploma in Health and Social Care. She is currently undertaking additional studies to enable her to start her University degree in Nursing in September 2017. She is trained in Phlebotomy and her role also includes some administration and reception work.

Malcolm is a highly experienced manager who had a senior role at the Beacon Centre, St Mary’s Hospital. He has specialist knowledge of the Dermatology sector and now leads the Dermatology Services team at 62 Crocker Street.
Michelle
MichelleDermatology Lead & Skin Camouflage Consultant
Michelle manages the Dermatology team, and is a fully qualified Beauty Therapist and Skin Camouflage Consultant. She is a Graduate Member of The British Association of Skin Camouflage (No 2590), and certified by the Royal College of Nursing in the Principles and Art of Para-medical Skin Camouflage Application Techniques. She now uses her expertise to help people with skin conditions feel more confident about facing the world.  
Nicola Cranwell
Nicola CranwellTraining and Development Manager, Lighthouse Educational Foundation
Nicola manages our charitable organisation. Her role includes dealing with applications for funding and sourcing appropriate courses for the successful healthcare professionals. She is an experienced business and marketing consultant, and the former Marketing Director of Isle of Wight Beacon Ltd, a local publishing company. Nicola’s qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Brighton.

Helen completed an Apprenticeship in Business Administration before joining the team at Lighthouse Medical in 2015.
Lorna

The newest member of the team is Lorna, our receptionist. She is one of the first people to welcome you at 62 Crocker Street. Most recently, Lorna worked as a receptionist at Green and Forster Veterinary surgery. Prior to that, she worked for many years at Nodehill Middle School and was the Officer Manager before the schools restructure. Lorna is an amazing baker (to which the team can testify) and has a busy home and social life. We are delighted to have her on board.

David is a retired NHS Chief Executive with wide management experience gained in both the private and public sectors. He has worked at Board level for over twenty five years on policy and strategy development in health and social care. Outside interests include cycling, skiing and cooking. He also volunteers with the Samaritans.

Eric is a specialist in health and care management and development. He graduated from Cambridge University and went on to hold senior positions in the NHS and the private sector (notably with BUPA Hospitals where he was a Director for many years, and Independent British Healthcare PLC). He is a Governor at his local school in Shanklin.
Dr Peter Hill

Peter has been a Partner of South Wight Medical Practice since 2001, and a GP Trainer since 2010. He was previously a partner at Dower House Surgery in Newport, and a Director of IDOC and Lighthouse Medical. In addition, he has served as a doctor in the Armed forces. His hobbies include golf, skiing, cycling and reading.
